South African Genetics & Bioinformatics Society Conference
“The Data-mining Revolution”
Monday 10 – Wednesday 12 September 2012
The Conservatoire, University of Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch

The South African Genetics Society and South African Society for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology have the pleasure to announce: “The Data-mining Revolution”; A joint meeting of these Societies to be held from September 10th – 12th, 2012, at the Stellenbosch University Conservatoire in Stellenbosch

We are all aware of the large amounts of data currently being generated by most projects with a genetics or bioinformatics basis. This is accelerated, but not limited. to the breakthroughs and enhanced chemistries available in the next generation sequencing race. Although this poses great challenges as to the handling of such large bodies of data, it also harnesses the immense potential in utilizing this data and mining it for so many more applications than we could potentially initially have envisioned

Join us at this thought provoking joint conference to ponder and discuss this and other issues associated with Genetics and Bioinformatics in the current age where the amount of data increases exponentially

With best regards, Rouvay Roodt-Wilding and Fourie Joubert
